On a recent trip outside the US

What principles did I see?

1. Accessibility vs relevance

The power of the church is it’s people WHEN they are growing in intimacy with God the Father and Gospel relating to the world in which they live their daily lives.

The power of leadership is measured by it’s ability to influence the people to the empowerment of discipleship and thus transformation.

The change of transformation comes when we have a regular encounter with the Word of God, in the hands of the Spirit of God, in the midst of the people of God

2. Decentralized structure and therefore Incarnational penetration vs a gathered structure and low penetration

3. Broad leadership spread vs intensified and professional leadership

What are the leadership principles observable in rapidly multiplying movements

KEY PASSAGES IN SCRIPTURE:

Ephesians 4:11-12

I Corinthians 12:7-26

I Corinthians 12:4-6

Matthew 20:20-28

1. The full recognition and implementation of all of the functions given by Christ, and gifts given by the Spirit, within a leadership body that is:
A. More than one
B. Diverse from each other
C. Accountable to one empowerment bottom line.

2. The broad release through the purpose of the Church, rather than the needs of an institution, of these functions and gifts as opposed to a centralized spending of them on one body of people.

3. The clear understanding of the difference between the role of these things in empowerment vs consuming them in the preparation and leading a set of gathered activities.

4. The dedication of every leadership piece possible to the training, release and support of a broad and scattered group of other leadership in the pursuit of the full release of the purpose of the Church in a place.
